Seagulls' Nest

We have built our wooden nest up in a tree with our bare hands. Since we are a joyful flock we will invite our fellow musicians to visit our nest. Mainly to kick back, enjoy some crooked past time activities and play some of our favourite tunes with us.

As a result, each Seagulls’ Nest episode includes two newly arranged songs, activities, interviews and stories about music and life.

Why did you build your nest in a tree?

Well, we thought that’s what seagulls do. And also one late night after a show in Finland we came up with an idea of a place to invite friends. Why not in a tree? We also felt like we needed to come up with something to fight this pandemic boredom.

Did you really build the nest by yourself?

Yes.

Who will be visiting your nest?

We’d love to have Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant over. So if you know them please give them our info and say hi from us. And also tell them that if they want to go to sauna, please bring your own towel.

What will you do at Seagulls’ Nest?

Most importantly – we’ll play music. Our guests have picked two songs. One coming from their own catalogue and also a mutual favorite. These songs are arranged and performed at Seagulls’ Nest.

There’s also plenty of space for other activities. Such as skiing, rally and other sports one might find common in the Finnish countryside. There will be plenty of room for our visitors to share their thoughts about their background, music and life.

We have a sauna outside so that’ll be in use. We got a few cold ones there too. Maybe good old Finnish activities like not talking and drinking coffee will take place.

Where is Seagulls’ Nest located?

It’s in Finland at a secret location. Surrounded by pine trees and plenty of countryside. Like about 80% of Finland…

Who are you guys?

We’re Steve ‘n’ Seagulls. A band from Finland that plays music from the heart. Our instruments vary from banjo, accordion and acoustic guitar to drums and upright bass. Sometimes an organ and flute are involved. First we played our versions of songs from different kinds of artists. On our last three albums we’ve also composed our own material. We like to have a good time and share a common interest in doing weird stuff involving music.

What is Finland like?

This is the land of eternal darkness. Except during the summer when we have beautiful daylight 24 hours a day. We are a nordic country and are known to be good at drinking coffee and wrestling. We like to keep our distance but after some hours, days or months we turn in to people that are easy to approach. Activities involving ice are quite common in Finland. Like ice hockey (world championships -95 never forget), ice fishing, ice sledding, ice swimming and just generally being frozen during the winter.
